Basketball Recap: Murphy's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Murphy hadn't done well against Blount recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Murphy Panthers had just enough and edged the Blount Leopards out 45-42. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since February 7, 2024.

Blount's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendaleigh Wesley, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Amayah Bracy was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Murphy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9. As for Blount, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Murphy will challenge McGill-Toolen at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blount, they will square off against Theodore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Blount has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-3 during that stretch of close contests.
