Preview: Pendleton Bulldogs vs. Seneca Bobcats
Pendleton is 1-9 against Seneca since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pendleton Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Seneca Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Pendleton posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They really took it to West-Oak for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-35 victory on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-15.
Pendleton relied on the efforts of Garon Blalock, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, and Luke Gray, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. Kory Jones was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
In what's become a running theme this season, Seneca gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Crescent with a sharp 69-49 victory. Winning may never get old, but Seneca sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Seneca had a senior duo take command as Jalen Craig scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and Cam O'kelley scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. O'kelley is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jermaine Miller, who scored five points along with 14 rebounds and five assists.
Pendleton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. As for Seneca, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pendleton have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Seneca struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pendleton was dealt a bruising 73-36 defeat at the hands of Seneca when the teams last played on January 10th. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Pendleton was down 31-10.
