Softball Game Preview: Lancaster Red Devils vs. Rappahannock Raiders

Lancaster hasn't had much luck against Rappahannock recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Red Devils will take on the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lancaster will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Westmoreland, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Red Devils never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Devils.

Addie George was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Isabella Gill, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

Lancaster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westmoreland only posted an OBP of .062.

13 must be Rappahannock's lucky number: they beat Colonial Beach with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Raiders didn't even let the Drifters on the board, marking the Raiders' second-straight 13-0 shutout. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on six straight.

Rappahannock pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lancaster, their record now sits at 9-5.

Lancaster suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Rappahannock in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
