Haxtun is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Yuma is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Fightin' Bulldogs will welcome the Outlaws at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Haxtun gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Otis. The win continues a trend for the Fightin' Bulldogs in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won eight in a row.
Kanin Koberstein made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryland Wolff, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Goddard, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one triple.
Haxtun always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Otis only posted an OBP of .333.
While Yuma didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Sedgwick County with a sharp 11-5 victory on Saturday.
Stevie Seward was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Yuma's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Lennox Huwa, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Yuma has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Haxtun, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Haxtun has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Yuma struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
