Softball Recap: St. Dominic Has No Trouble Against Mount Abram

St. Dominic won the last time they faced Mount Abram and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Saints were the clear victors by a 19-12 margin over the Roadrunners. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Madeline Andrews made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Tapley was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sophia Franciose, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

St. Dominic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.

St. Dominic pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Mount Abram, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.

St. Dominic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-3 win against North Yarmouth Academy on the 28th. As for Mount Abram, they have also already played their next game, a 13-3 defeat against Madison on the 28th.
