Basketball Recap: Overhills Takes a Loss

Overhills fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Westover on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Westover Wolverines. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now lost nine in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Overhills lost, don't look at Jaiden Odom. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Cj Roland was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Leading Westover to victory were Jaeden Jones and DeMarious Hall. Jones went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points, while Hall went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points. That's the most points Hall has posted since back in December of 2024.

Overhills' defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Westover, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

Overhills wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-49 win against Harnett Central on the 4th. As for Westover, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-59 victory against Terry Sanford on the 4th.
