Baseball Recap: Cabrillo Sets Scoring Season-High Against Arroyo Grande

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cabrillo). They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Arroyo Grande Eagles on Tuesday. With that victory, the Conquistadores brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Cabrillo got a great performance from Jacob Low as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Low has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gabe Barraza, who went 3-for-6 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Cabrillo's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Kiesling, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Cabrillo kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

With the win, Cabrillo broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-4. As for Arroyo Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-1.

Cabrillo will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.
