Basketball Recap: Pawnee Heights Falls Despite Big Games from Clayton Hammeke and Brady Carlson

Pawnee Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 45-27 bruising from the Hodgeman County Longhorns. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly 18 points.

Pawnee Heights' loss came despite strong showings from Brady Carlson and Clayton Hammeke. Carlson posted seven points and four blocks, while Hammeke put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Hodgeman County was led to victory by Tyson Younger and Ian Reece. Younger dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards, while Reece had 11 points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Younger a new career-high in steals (four). Hazen Rydquist was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Pawnee Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Hodgeman County, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Pawnee Heights has already played their next contest (against Ashland), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Hodgeman County will face off against Meade at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meade will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Hodgeman County surely won't give up without a fight.
