Baseball Recap: Swansea Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Swansea hadn't done well against Saluda recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Swansea won by a run and slipped past Saluda 6-5. Winning may never get old, but Swansea sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Trey Brisco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kendall Wright was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Jacob Harper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Swansea pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Saluda, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swansea will venture away from home to challenge Silver Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saluda, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Saluda Tigers duke it out with Pelion Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pelion has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.29 runs per game on average), something Saluda will no doubt try to take advantage of.
