Softball Game Preview: Central Rockets vs. Huntley Red Raiders

Central hasn't had much luck against Huntley recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rockets will venture away from home to take on the Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Central managed to slip by Stillman Valley the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rockets might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-0 to the Cardinals, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Huntley came up short against Prairie Ridge on Thursday and fell 5-1. The Red Raiders haven't had much luck with the Wolves recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Huntley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyla Ginczycki, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14-1. As for Huntley, their loss dropped their record down to 22-6.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Central hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Huntley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Central might still be hurting after the 17-2 defeat they got from Huntley when the teams last played back in April. Can the Rockets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
