Soccer Game Preview: Chugiak vs. Service

The Chugiak Mustangs will take on the Service Cougars at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Chugiak is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Lathrop as they made off with a 4-1 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Chugiak needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Service faced West Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Wolf Pack 5-1. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Service considering their one-goal performance the matchup before.

Service is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 35 goals over those nine contests. As for Chugiak, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7-1.

Chugiak couldn't quite get it done against Service in their previous matchup on Saturday as they fell 3-1. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
