Basketball Recap: Newton Eagles vs. Diboll Lumberjacks

Newton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Diboll Lumberjacks, falling 63-38. The Eagles were down 50-26 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Diboll found their leader in sophomore Tyrece Mcmillan, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. What's more, Mcmillan also racked up four assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Miller, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Diboll, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-14.

Newton has already played their next contest (against Woodville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Diboll, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 33-31 loss against Pollok Central on the 11th.
