Softball Recap: Russell Wins Going Away Against Grant County

Russell got themselves on the board against Grant County on Saturday, but Grant County never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Braves. The match marked the Red Devils' most dominant win of the season so far.

Russell got a massive performance out of Ava Howard, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Howard has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bella Hall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI.

Howard wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Russell lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. The Red Devils are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Russell's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Grant County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Looking ahead, Russell will head out to take on Raceland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Red Devils' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Grant County, they will take on Fleming County at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season.
