Softball Game Preview: Leesville Road Pride vs. Sanderson Spartans

The Leesville Road Pride will challenge the Sanderson Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Leesville Road's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Sanderson has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Leesville Road got the win against Athens Drive by a conclusive 11-1. With that victory, the Pride brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Maddie Kelbaugh, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Olivia Erskine was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Leesville Road always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Athens Drive only posted an OBP of .167.

Sanderson had taken Enloe down for four straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Spartans lost 26-9 to the Eagles. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 4-0 in the first period.

Mason Stanley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Sloane Thorpe, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Leesville Road is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sanderson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
