Preview: Calvert Senecas vs. Danbury Lakers
Calvert is 10-0 against Danbury since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Calvert Senecas will be playing at home against the Danbury Lakers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Calvert has five straight wins, Danbury has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Calvert ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against New Riegel and snuck past 54-52.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Calvert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caden Otterbacher, who scored 19 points along with four steals. It was the first time this season that Otterbacher scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Wolph, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, Danbury ended up a good deal behind St. Mary Central Catholic on Friday and lost 65-50.
Calvert has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Danbury, they dropped their record down to 3-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Calvert against Danbury in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 66-29 win. Will Calvert repeat their success, or does Danbury have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
