Softball Game Preview: Chagrin Falls Tigers vs. Rocky River Pirates

The Chagrin Falls Tigers will face off against the Rocky River Pirates at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

After dropping their season opener at home, Rocky River is headed out to face a Tigers team ready to give their home crowd a win. Chagrin Falls came up short against Cardinal on Thursday, falling 27-9.

Lauren Eickhoff stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Brigitte Edwards was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Rocky River fell victim to Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Royals. The loss was the Pirates' first of the season.

Reagan Kane spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
