Baseball Game Preview: Pecos Eagles vs. Fort Stockton Panthers

The Pecos Eagles will face off against the Fort Stockton Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Pecos came up short against Andrews and fell 8-4. The Eagles have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Fort Stockton came into Friday's matchup having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Monahans on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gerry Diaz made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Fort Stockton is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-11 otherwise. Diaz was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Diaz wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Nunez, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Nunez has posted since back in March. Another was Gama Corral, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Fort Stockton now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Pecos, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Pecos came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Stockton in their previous meeting two weeks ago, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
