Basketball Recap: Sumner Victorious

Sumner won the last time they faced Graham-Kapowsin and things went their way on Friday too. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, the Sumner Spartans made off with a 62-61 victory over the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Eagles are ranked 262nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sumner has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Graham-Kapowsin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Sumner will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Bonney Lake at 7:00 p.m. Sumner is facing Bonney Lake at the right time seeing as Bonney Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Graham-Kapowsin, they will head out to take on Puyallup at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
