Preview: Goshen RedHawks vs. Mishawaka Cavemen
The Goshen RedHawks will head out on the road to square off against the Mishawaka Cavemen at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Goshen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
Goshen suffered their biggest loss since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were dealt a 59-27 loss at the hands of Warsaw. Goshen was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Despite the defeat, Goshen had strong showings from Kaelyn Marcum, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Kyra Hill, who scored eight points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marcum has scored all season.
Mishawaka can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against New Prairie by a score of 49-40. The win was all the more spectacular given Mishawaka's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while New Prairie is ranked 79th).
This is the second loss in a row for Goshen and nudges their season record down to 10-11. As for Mishawaka, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Goshen was able to grind out a solid victory over Mishawaka when the teams last played back in January of 2023, winning 51-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Goshen since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
