Volleyball Recap: Mineola Comes Up Short

Mineola suffered their biggest loss since November 4, 2024 on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to the Malakoff Tigers. The Yellowjackets' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Malakoff scored at least 21 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-21.

Canyon Redding paced Mineola's offense, picking up 21 kills. Redding got some help from Callie Black and her 26 assists.

Mineola's defeat dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Malakoff, they pushed their record up to 21-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mineola will challenge rival Quitman at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Malakoff is set to square off against their familiar foe Grand Saline at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
