Melbourne is a perfect 10-0 against Eau Gallie since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Melbourne is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Dwyer on Friday as Melbourne made off with a 17-5 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Melbourne let Hailey Cottrill and Layna Ayala run wild. Cottrill went 3-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI, while Ayala went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Ayala has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Krysten Bender, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Melbourne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Eau Gallie's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Friday. They fell just short of Lake Brantley by a score of 4-2. The matchup marked the Commodores' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Eau Gallie saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabel (Izzy) Gambill, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was Gambill's first of the season.
Melbourne's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Eau Gallie, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Melbourne has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like Eau Gallie struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
