Baseball Recap: Berkeley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Piedmont

There's no place like home for Berkeley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past the Piedmont Highlanders 10-1 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Highlanders on Wednesday, they had to take a 4-2 loss.

Akanni Owodunni was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Berkeley is undefeated when Owodunni posts three or more RBI, but 7-11 otherwise. Isaiah Mays was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Berkeley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Piedmont, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkeley will square off against Encinal at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jets' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Yellowjackets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Piedmont, they will take on Bishop O'Dowd at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Highlanders are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
