Basketball Recap: Mt. Zion Prep Academy Continues Home Dominance on Monday

On Monday, Mt. Zion Prep Academy faced Riverdale Baptist in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Mt. Zion Prep Academy Warriors walked away with a 61-49 win over the Riverdale Baptist Crusaders. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Several Crusaders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Giovonni Sanford, who posted 12 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Sanford posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Jacoby Briscoe was another key player, putting up 12 points and six boards.

Mt. Zion Prep Academy pushed their record up to 21-5 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.7 points over those games. As for Riverdale Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 22-11.

As of now, neither Mt. Zion Prep Academy nor Riverdale Baptist have any future games scheduled.
