Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Mancelona

Mancelona waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Johannesburg-Lewiston Cardinals. For the Ironmen, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Ryan Naumcheff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Naumcheff wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isiac Burley, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mancelona's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Johannesburg-Lewiston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mancelona will welcome Bellaire at 2:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Johannesburg-Lewiston, they will be playing at home against Hillman at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
