PSAL Bowl recap Oct. 3, 2012
McKee Vo-Tech was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 12th to eighth in PSAL Bowl. The Seagulls beat Springfield Gardens 14-0 earlier in the week.
South Shore extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Jamaica, 42-12. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Vikings.
The Beavers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Shean Harrison threw for 127 yards and abdul rahm Ibrahim had 85 yards receiving. On the ground Craig Henry chipped in 97 yards. Olmide Laosebikan helped Jamaica's passing attack out by catching two balls for 42 yards.
Jamaica's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Beavers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Harrison has thrown for 473 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Ibrahim has 11 catches for 366 yards. Henry leads the league in rushing with 535 yards.
A big matchup in PSAL Bowl this week will be when South Shore takes on Mott Haven. At the moment, Tommy Salvato's team is in first, while the Mavericks are in 12th.
Long Island City moved up to 580 from 606 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bulldogs climbed the ranks as a result of a 24-12 win over Martin.
