Volleyball Recap: Churchill Chargers vs. Pieper Warriors
Churchill lost against Pieper back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Chargers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 2-1.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Churchill sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-11, 23-25, 25-23.
Olivia Huereca paced Churchill's offense, picking up ten kills. Huereca got some help from Sofia Sedano and her 20 assists. Lucy Shepler controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Pieper was led to victory by Cayleigh Monson and Amaris Williams. Monson had 18 digs, while Williams had four digs and two aces. Those 18 digs gave Monson a new career-high.
Churchill's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3. As for Pieper, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Churchill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against LEE on the 23rd. As for Pieper, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against United on the 23rd.
