Softball Game Preview: East Wake Warriors vs. Rolesville Rams

The East Wake Warriors will head out to challenge the Rolesville Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither East Wake nor Rolesville posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

On Tuesday, East Wake came up short against West Johnston and fell 6-2. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madison Keith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Wake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Rolesville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Wakefield, falling 16-1.

East Wake's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Rolesville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Rolesville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Wake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Rolesville, though, as they've been averaging 10.7 hits. Given East Wake's sizable advantage in that area, Rolesville will need to find a way to close that gap.

East Wake couldn't quite get it done against Rolesville when the teams last played back in March of 2022 as they fell 6-1. Can East Wake avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
