If Eaglecrest wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Mullen, they should've done a better job of containing Makenzie Jones. The Mullen Mustangs narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eaglecrest Raptors 40-38 thanks in part to Jones, who went 9 of 17 on her way to 19 points and four steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Eaglecrest lost on Friday, don't look at Jada Bobb. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards. That was a full 39.5% of Eaglecrest's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Naomi Emecheta, who scored six points and five rebounds.

Mullen's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Eaglecrest, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season.

Coming up, Mullen will welcome Cherokee Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Eaglecrest, they will venture away from home to take on Arapahoe at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eaglecrest is facing Arapahoe at the right time seeing as Arapahoe is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
