Softball Recap: Salem Spartans vs. Pulaski County Cougars
Salem had lost nine straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 3-10 to make it ten. They came up short against the Pulaski County Cougars, falling 17-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Spartans couldn't push the score so high this time.
As for Pulaski County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The matchup marked their most dominant win of the season so far.
For Pulaski County's part, they let Shelby Dobbins and Victoria Hale run wild. Dobbins fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4, while Hale went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. That's the most hits Hale has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Addison Puckett, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Salem will venture away from home to face off against Franklin County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Pulaski County, they will head out on the road to challenge Cave Spring at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
