Softball Game Preview: Northridge Raiders vs. South Bend Adams Eagles

The Northridge Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the South Bend Adams Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Northridge nor South Bend Adams posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Carroll hit Northridge with a five-run fifth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Raiders lost 8-2 to the Chargers. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Northridge saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Halle Moeller, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Moeller has hit this season.

Meanwhile, South Bend Adams fell victim to New Prairie and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Cougars, falling 8-0. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Northridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for South Bend Adams, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Northridge's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Raiders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Bend Adams, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Northridge continue to outrun the ball?

Northridge couldn't quite get it done against South Bend Adams in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
