The Haverling Rams will square off against the Geneseo Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Haverling: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Geneseo has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road.
Haverling came up short against Wayland-Cohocton on Thursday, falling 12-4.
Dayton Orlowske made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Geneseo hadn't done well against Le Roy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Blue Devils came out on top in a nail-biter against the Oatkan Knights, sneaking past 5-3.
Luke Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Warner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Brady O'Brien, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Geneseo is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Haverling, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Haverling has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Geneseo struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
