Softball Game Preview: Brentwood Bruins vs. Centennial Cougars

The Brentwood Bruins are taking a road trip to challenge the Centennial Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brentwood's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Centennial's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Brentwood took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They put the hurt on Franklin with a sharp 10-0 win. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Admirals recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Marina Mason made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Mason was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Bella Black, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Brentwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only posted a batting average of .100.

Meanwhile, Centennial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 14-0 to Summit.

Brentwood's record now sits at 12-4. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 3-16.

Brentwood took their win against Centennial in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bruins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
