Football Recap: Crystal River Comes Up Short

Crystal River was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a 33-0 loss at the hands of the Weeki Wachee Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Hornets are ranked 58th).

Crystal River's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Weeki Wachee, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Crystal River and Weeki Wachee are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Pirates will challenge Leesburg at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Weeki Wachee, they will face off against Central at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hornets 8.2, the Bears 11.4) so any points scored will be well earned.
