Softball Game Preview: Douglas Trojans vs. Sutherlin Bulldogs

The Douglas Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Sutherlin Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 12 games.

On Friday, Douglas earned a 7-3 win over Glide.

Meanwhile, Sutherlin had just enough and edged out Siuslaw 11-9 on Friday. That two run margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Kaitlyn Berry was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellsie Engelstad, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Douglas' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Sutherlin, their victory ended a 14-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11.

Everything went Douglas' way against Sutherlin in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Douglas made off with a 21-1 win. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
