Baseball Game Preview: Cypress Lake Panthers vs. Estero Wildcats

The Cypress Lake Panthers will take on the Estero Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Cypress Lake is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Babcock on Tuesday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trailblazers.

Cypress Lake saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matt Miller, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Estero, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Island Coast on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Evan Goeller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Estero is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Goeller was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylan Greenleaf, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Cypress Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Estero, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
