Softball Recap: Chicago Academy Takes a Loss

Chicago Academy extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-10 in the process. They came up short against the Von Steuben Panthers, falling 20-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Chicago Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Yosselyn Figueroa, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Von Steuben, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games.

On Von Steuben's side, Skye Rojek was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three doubles, and three RBI. Rojek is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Annayeli Blanco was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Von Steuben didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 victory against Lake View on the 29th. Hopefully Chicago Academy paid attention to the Panthers' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
