Flag Football Recap: Western Christian Comes Up Short

Western Christian was the 27-6 winner over Etiwanda when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fighting Lancers fell 20-12 to the Eagles on Saturday.

Although Western Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Molly Kawamura and Bella Smiderle.

CASSANDRA VAZQUEZ was nothing short of spectacular for Etiwanda: she threw for 279 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.8% of her passes, and also rushed for 30 yards. That's the most passing yards VAZQUEZ has posted over her last seven matchups. MARIAH WAKUMOTO was VAZQUEZ's top target, picking up 70 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Western Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season. As for Etiwanda, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-2.

Western Christian has already played their next game, a 25-0 victory against Ontario Christian on the 29th. As for Etiwanda, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 33-31 defeat against Huntington Beach on the 27th.
