Baseball Recap: Parker Find Success

Parker proved they can win big on Friday (they won by ten) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Pinson Valley Indians 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Thundering Herd have posted since February 25th.

Jordan Willis was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Terrion Nevels was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Parker: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 7-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Micheal Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Parker has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. Pinson Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-15.

Looking ahead, Parker will venture away from home to square off against Blount at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pinson Valley, they will square off against Talladega at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
