Softball Recap: Park Vista Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

Park Vista's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They came out on top against the Centennial Eagles by a score of 9-5. The win continues a trend for the Cobras in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.

Angeline Mergen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. Mergen was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Hannah Durante was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Isabella Golas was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Park Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Centennial only posted an OBP of .400.

Park Vista's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Park Vista will head out to square off against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Centennial, they will venture away from home to face off against Treasure Coast at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
