Football Recap: Anselmo-Merna Skates Past Chambers/Wheeler Central with Ease

There's no place like home for Anselmo-Merna, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-16 victory over the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades. The game marked the Coyotes' most dominant win of the season.

Dane Duryea produced another solid performance rushing for 125 yards and five TDs. Timmy Myers made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Anselmo-Merna proved: they limited Chambers/Wheeler Central to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. While two picked up at least eight total tackles, Duryea stood above the rest. He rushed for 125 yards and five touchdowns. Anselmo-Merna didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.

Anselmo-Merna didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Duryea, Caenyn Priest, and Myers picked up one apiece. Myers got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Anselmo-Merna's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.3 points over those games. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
