Recap: Peak to Peak Pumas vs. Kent Denver Sun Devils
The Peak to Peak Pumas pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-63 bruising from Kent Denver. While losing is never fun, Peak to Peak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Kent Denver is ranked ninth).
Peak to Peak lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elijah Eschmeyer, who scored 18 points along with four blocks. Eschmeyer is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Grant Boonstra, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Kent Denver's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elvis Lloyd, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Lloyd scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Fay, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Peak to Peak's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Kent Denver, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Peak to Peak will head out on the road to face off against Colorado Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kent Denver, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Prospect Ridge Academy at 7:00 p.m. Prospect Ridge Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 665 points over their last ten matchups.
