Basketball Recap: Socorro Warriors vs. Sandia Prep Sundevils

Socorro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 51-38 to the Sandia Prep Sundevils. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sundevils from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Socorro still got an impressive performance from Jazmine Alvarado, who posted 20 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariana Crespin, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Sandia Prep found their leader in sophomore Ella Volkman, who scored nine points along with five boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Madlyn Dopson, who earned eight points and five rebounds.

Socorro's loss dropped their record down to 0-15. As for Sandia Prep, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-9.

Socorro didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-42 defeat against Tularosa on the 28th. As for Sandia Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-48 win against East Mountain on the 24th.
