Softball Game Preview: Como-Pickton Eagles vs. Fruitvale Bobcats

Como-Pickton has gone a perfect 8-0 against Fruitvale recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Como-Pickton Eagles will welcome the Fruitvale Bobcats at 6:00 p.m. Como-Pickton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Last Tuesday, Como-Pickton made easy work of Fruitvale and carried off a 15-5 victory. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Fruitvale's part, Kyla Bain was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and 13 unearned) runs off eight hits. Bain has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Shelby Dry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnye Tull, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one RBI.

Como-Pickton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. Fruitvale's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-6-1.
