Baseball Recap: Frankfort Extends Winning Streak to Five

Frankfort had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Moorefield on Friday. The Falcons never let the Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lane Lease made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacob Nething was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Jacobs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Frankfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win (which was Frankfort's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Moorefield, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Coming up, Frankfort will venture away from home to take on Allegany at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Moorefield, they will welcome Doddridge County at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
