The scorekeeper got an easy start  on Monday as neither Newton nor Farina South Central made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars  a   5-0 shutout. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Cougars  two weeks ago, they had to take a  3-1  defeat.
 Hayden Mulvey looked comfortable as he  tossed three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in four consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side, Newton saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Dominic Baltzell, who  went 2-for-4 with one  run and one  RBI. That's the most  hits  Baltzell has posted since back in April.
 Newton  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. They are  a perfect 5-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
The  victory snapped Newton's losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 16-14 record. As for Farina South Central, they now  have a losing record of 11-12.
As of now, neither Newton nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
