Football Recap: High Point Christian Academy Find Success

High Point Christian Academy is still undefeated this season after their contest against Asheville School (Independent) on Friday, but Asheville School (Independent) came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blues, sneaking past 24-21. Those 24 points were actually the fewest the Cougars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Jaylen Moore produced another solid effort rushing for 233 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 17th straight game with at least 100 rushing yards dating back to last season.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: High Point Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asheville School (Independent) only rushed for 186.

High Point Christian Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Cam Norton with two sacks. High Point Christian Academy got some further help from Rhyne Russell: he picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles.

Shiloh Mukendi and Marvyn Larozar certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Mukendi rushed for 107 yards on only eight carries, while Larozar rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries. Larozar also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making two total tackles.

High Point Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Asheville School (Independent), their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

High Point Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 61-6 win against South Wake on the 17th. As for Asheville School (Independent), they have also already played their next game, a 41-0 victory against Covenant Day on the 17th.
