Softball Recap: St. Anthony Comes Up Short

St. Anthony was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 8-5 to the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly three runs.

Ava Faber stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs. Ady Rios was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

St. Anthony's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Teutopolis, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-8.

Looking ahead, St. Anthony will take on Paris at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Teutopolis, they will head out on the road to face off against Shelbyville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wooden Shoes are facing the Rams at the right time seeing as the Rams are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
