Preview: Washington County Commanders vs. Bluegrass United Bluehawks
Washington County is 5-0 against Bluegrass United since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Washington County Commanders have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Bluegrass United Bluehawks at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Washington County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 11 matches -- so hopefully Bluegrass United likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Washington County gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Burgin 73-47. Given Washington County's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while Burgin is ranked 265th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Bluegrass United's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Columbus HomeSchool by a score of 66-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Washington County pushed their record up to 16-7 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.3 points per game. As for Bluegrass United, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.
Washington County took their win against Bluegrass United in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 82-61. Will Washington County repeat their success, or does Bluegrass United have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
