Basketball Recap: Polk County Wildcats vs. Copper Basin Cougars

The Polk County Wildcats won the last time they faced the Copper Basin Cougars, and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went Polk County's way against the Cougars as the Wildcats made off with a 71-48 victory. With Polk County ahead 50-26 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

When it comes to explaining why Copper Basin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Talon Smith. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Carder Lance, who scored ten points.

The victory makes it two in a row for Polk County and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for Copper Basin, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Polk County will take on the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Copper Basin, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Lookout Valley has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
