Baseball Recap: St. Michaels' Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

It's playoff time, and St. Michaels had no trouble coming through when it counted. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Pikesville Panthers 4-3. Winning may never get old, but the Saints sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Will Sherwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Michaels saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Wheeler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another was Blake Wheatley, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

St. Michaels' win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Pikesville, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-8.

Coming up, St. Michaels will challenge Allegany on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Saints 2.6, the Campers 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pikesville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
